Tyrod Taylor and Bills Struggle to Cooperate

I simply can not remember the last time a quarterback was the face of the Buffalo Bills franchise since the late Jim Kelly. Another name that could potentially pop in my head is Tyrod Taylor.

Coming off of a season in which expectations were set low, Taylor led the Bills to an 8-8 record, which was partially due to the injuries on the offensive side of the ball.

With many speculating that Taylor will receive a contract extension sometime in the near future, general manager Doug Whaley noted that “there is some work to be done”.

Well, it seems as though that Taylor’s agent Adisa Bakari is not enjoying the patience the Bills have on this matter.

“Fortunately, there are 31 other teams that have watched and will be watching Tyrod. The fact of the matter is what Tyrod was able to do as a first-time starter in 2015 was give the Bills the best quarterback they’ve had since Jim Kelly.”

He isn’t wrong at all, Taylor landed in the Pro-Bowl for a reason, and it all started with beating out Matt Cassel and EJ Manuel for the starting job during training camp.

One reason that the Bills have yet to reach out to Taylor is due to the question mark regarding his sprained MCL back in 2015. With the injury, “T-Mobile” became a lot less durable than he was before. Even though I would personally trust Taylor more than Manuel outside of the pocket, there is always a chance that Taylor gets injured once again.

Has Taylor truly earned himself the title as the face of the Bills franchise? The regular starting quarterback seems to be making around $17 million nowadays, so it makes sense that the Bills are holding off until Taylor proves that 2015 wasn’t just a fluke.
