Johnny Manziel Harrased by Fan, No Charges Pressed
Johnny Manziel’s maturity has been highly questionable since the commissioner called his name in the 2014 draft, and he brought his signature “Money Manziel” hand gesture into the NFL. Johnny football was also was released from a rehab center in April of this year, in which he was self admitted to.
This past weekend, a fan had asked Manziel for an autograph, and Manziel declined the fan’s request. At the Four Seasons pool area of the golf club, the fan had reportedly badgered Manziel even further. Johnny football had then thrown a water bottle at the aggressive fan, and Manziel’s friend stepped in to intervene, ultimately pushing the fan.
Golf course security was forced to break it up and defuse the situation, and as of now no charges have been filed. It is also still unclear if the water bottle thrown had actually struck the fan in the first place.
This isn’t the first time Johnny Manziel has been involved in an altercation with fans. Last year he was involved in an incident that took place at his apartment building. Once again, no charges were filed and the fan later apologized for the incident.
On the plus side, it was determined that neither alcohol or drugs were involved. There have been some pictures taking up the internet of Johnny Manziel talking to police, however his agent, Erik Burkhardt, has cleared his clients name stating that “Those are of Johnny explaining his side of the story”. Burkhardt than went on to note that he and Manziel were both in church Sunday morning in Dallas, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
The Cleveland Browns signal caller still has some growing up to do, and not just off the field. In five games last year, he went 18 for 35, for an atrocious 175, while throwing two interceptions without any touchdowns. Those stats left him with a 5.1 QBR on the year. It was a less than stellar rookie season to say the least, but for Manziel, it’s a new year and I’m pulling for him. The talent is there for Manziel, and if he can avoid these off field issues, he is certainly one step closer to being the quarterback we know he can be.
