Finances in a lot of cases seem to be the biggest issue throughout the NFL. Signing the stars, such as Dallas Cowboys’ Dez Bryant, is all part of the business side of things. Bryant put up record breaking numbers last year for the Cowboys, catching 88 passes last year for over 1300 yards and a record breaking 16 touchdowns.

With Bryant’s contract ending down at the end of last year, the Cowboys decided to place the franchise tag on him, as the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement. In a lot of cases, some players would take that franchise tag as a motivational tool, but Bryant wanted the money he deserved.

Bryant made it clear that he wanted a salary similar to Detroit Lions’ receiver Calvin Johnson, but Jerry Jones wants a “Cowboys friendly” contract. With boycotting multiple voluntary workouts during the off-season, it got fans wondering if Bryant would really risk not playing until he got paid.

Bryant did however show up to multiple workouts as well as missing others, but what really shocked the world was when he reportedly is “contemplating” skipping the season opener against the New York Giants unless he is signed by July 15th.

It’s not a secret that Bryant may be the Cowboys’ most valuable player when it comes to functioning the offense. He’s been a leader and a role model, but at what cost is he worth in the eyes of Jerry Jones?
