Will Teams be Interested in Devin Hester?

ESPN Images
As reported Tuesday afternoon, the Atlanta Falcons have decided to release wide receiver and return specialist Devin Hester from the franchise. Hester has been dealing with a foot injury for almost all of 2015, and his age was not helping his case either.

The 33-year old is still recovering from surgery he underwent for his toe back in January. While active in 2014, Hester was able to only rack in 38 receptions for 504 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Hester may not be in the best shape of his life, but he does have the reputation of being the best return man in NFL history on his side. In his historic career, Hester has recorded 3+ special team TD’s in four separate seasons.

Hester has stated that he does not plan on retiring, so that alone should urge some teams to look into him. His health may be an issue, as his timetable for a return was 4-6 months.

Hester will be able to compete for a starting job on multiple NFL rosters. Some teams that have seemed interested off the bat are the New York Jets, as well as his former team, the Chicago Bears.

He is without a doubt one of the most exciting players you can watch. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few more teams looked into the opportunity of signing Hester on a cheap contract.
