Will Brady Become GOAT of Sports With Another Ring?

Ever since arriving in the league in 2000, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has impressed just about everyone through every season. In the entirety of sports, there has been a lot of discussion on who is the greatest of all-time. Within the NFL, Brady always happens to be in the conversation. Already having five Super Bowl rings to his legacy, would Brady become the greatest of all-time in all of sports if he wins one more championship?
In his career, Brady has thrown for 61,582 yards, 456 touchdowns, 152 interceptions, and currently has a career passer rating of 97.2 so far. He has been more than consistent every season, showing that he is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. In fact, it seems as though he just gets better with age, as no signs of slowing down have risen, as he heads into his 17th season in the league. The 39-year old has broken multiple playoff passing records in passing yards (9,094 yards), touchdown passes (63), playoff games started (34), and most appearances in a Super Bowl (7).
Outside of the playoffs, Brady has proven that he is a dominant winner in the regular season as well, guiding the franchise to an AFC East division title every year since 2009. The future Hall of Famer has also guided the team to six straight seasons of over 10 wins, as well as reaching the AFC Championship game for the past six years in a row. There are not many quarterbacks in NFL history that can produce the same success that Brady has in his career.
Before this past season, Brady has also won the Super Bowl in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2014. The story leading up to Super Bowl 51 was the fact that the Patriots have been able to make it back to the Super Bowl, despite the fact that Brady was suspended for the first four games of the season. In the first half of the Super Bowl, the team looked really flat, as they didn’t seem capable of getting an efficient amount of points on the board, allowing the Falcons to jump to a 21-3 lead.
During the third quarter, that is where the game shifted to a different direction. Brady drove the team down the field, assisting the Patriots to overcome a 25-point deficit and win their sixth championship in a stunning overtime finish.
Before Super Bowl 51, Brady’s legacy allowed him already to be within the mix in terms of the GOAT of quarterbacks. He has been mentioned a lot in the debate, due to the fact that he had so much overwhelming success in his career. After the amazing comeback in Super Bowl 51, Brady is no longer being considered to just be one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football, but he has moved closer in the discussion of being the GOAT of all sports.
When you talk about the GOAT in sports, you talk about athletes like Michael Jordan, Roger Federer, Michael Phelps, Lionel Messi, and even Babe Ruth. The reason why these athletes are considered and often mentioned in GOAT discussions is due to the success that all of them have had in their respective sports.
Even though he has been one of the greatest quarterbacks to step on the field ever since 2000, Brady and the Patriots have a history of cheating throughout his career. In 2007, it was reported that the team was video taping defensive hand signals of the New York Jets during a September practice that particular season. Due to the incident, the franchise was fined $250,000 dollars, forced to give away their first-round pick in the draft, and coach Bill Belichick also got fined a personal $500,000 dollars.
Another scandal that the team and Brady were involved with was in 2016, in what is known as “Deflategate”. During the 2015 playoffs, the Patriots were facing the Indianapolis Colts for the right to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks. Even though New England won the game, the biggest story came after the game, as it was reported that the team used deflated footballs during portions of the game. The story got a lot of steam after the 2015-16 season, as Tom Brady was eventually suspended for the first four games of the past season for his supposed role. The team also lost two draft picks, and was fined $1 million.
If there was one thing stop Brady from becoming the greatest of all-time in sports history, it is the two scandals that he was involved in during his career. In the history of sports, there have been players that have been this conversation that has been caught in scandals, but nobody has been covered more by the media than Brady. At the end of the day, the way he plays on the field really outweighs the two scandals that he has been involved.
Coming off a win at Super Bowl 51, the franchise has improved the roster around Brady, signing corner Stephon Gilmore, and acquiring Brandin Cooks from the New Orleans Saints for the first round pick in the 2017 draft. Cooks is the deep threat that Brady has been missing for the past few seasons since Randy Moss departed from the roster. With the other weapons that Brady has alongside Cooks in Rob Gronkowski, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell, Julian Edleman, and Mike Gillislee, the offense looks more than ready for a sixth Super Bowl championship.
At the end of the day, Brady has so many accolades in his career, such as records and titles. With the way he has been playing, and the fact that he does not look like he is going to slow down anytime soon, if he can win a Super Bowl one more time, there is no doubt in my mind that Brady will be the GOAT of sports.

The “scandals” are just a bunch of hogwash and everyone who has an informed opinion would say the same. Goodell has absolute power over the NFL and has absolutely abused his power!
