Who to Sit/Start in Week 1

 

 
Here is who you should be starting and sitting in week one of the NFL: 

Start: The majority of people in this years draft waited on quarterback because of two reasons. One; only two were worth early picks. Two; quarterback is the easiest weakness to mask in fantasy football. If you don’t have an elite quarterback, or one you plan on starting every week, start Ryan Tannehill. The Redskins allowed the ninth most yards per game to quarterbacks last year, and only forced seven interceptions all year, this is a good matchup for Tannehill.

Start: Pay attention to the pre game because this pick may change, but start Alshon Jeffery. He’s a game time decision, but if the Bears decide to play him, Jeffery will not be doing much battling when it comes to targets. The Bears are going to be playing catch-up to a stout Packers offense, forcing them to pass a lot. A banged up Alshon Jeffery is still better than most receivers. Have a backup guy in case they decide to sit him.

Start: He was probably drafted late in your league, and he doesn’t have red hair. If you said Tyler Eifert, you guessed right. The Raiders are awful in the secondary, and they can barely cover receivers. The Raiders gave up an average of 8.1 points to tight ends last year. Maybe you have a better tight end you plan on playing, but what about your FLEX? Maybe you’re torn at TE. Play this guy and watch the points come in.

Sit: This game I would sit Alfred Morris. The Dolphins have bolstered that defensive line by acquiring Ndamukong Suh. They also have Olivier Vernon and Cameron Wake. Even when Morris gets passed that dominant line, he’ll still have to get passed Jelani Jenkins. The Dolphins will be ahead most of the game, and the Redskins will be forced to pass early.

Sit: I’m sitting Jay Cutler in this contest. Jay Cutler is at his worst when playing the Packers. In his career, Cutler is 1-10, throwing 22 interceptions, and only throwing 12 touchdowns. He’s never thrown more than two touchdowns against them in a single game. In seven of those contests, he either threw for one or no touchdowns. Most teams will have a better option to go to. History suggests to not play Cutler.

Sit: This is a group pick, but I’m sitting Falcons running backs in this game. I know the Eagles don’t have the best defense, but there is so many questions surrounding the Atlanta backfield. Who’s going to be the main back? Who will shine this year? While one game won’t tell us everything we need to know, it’ll be a good indication of who’s going to be played in certain scenarios. The Falcons look to have a RBBC system, so it’s tough to guess who’ll be the star from week to week.
