What Now For Zabit Magomedsharipov?

After Zabit Magomedsharipov defeated Calvin Kattar at UFC Fight Night 163 by unanimous decision, he has proven why he should be fighting for the title soon. With plenty of noteworthy fights happening in the future, there is speculation on who Magomedsharipov may fight next.

With Frankie Edgar heading to the Bantamweight division, Magomedsharipov could take the #4 spot in the rankings and get a re-booking with Yair Rodriguez. When Rodriguez declined their first scheduled fight, he was released from the UFC before eventually being reinstated.

On December 20th, Brian Ortega will fight Chan Sung Jung. If either fighter is not in line to fight for a title, it may build up to a bout against Magomedsharipov. The Korean Zombie defeated Renato Moicano at Fight Night 154, while Ortega’s last fight was a loss against Max Holloway.

At UFC 245, Max Holloway will be defending his Featherweight title against Alexander Volkanovski. It will mark Holloway’s fourth title defense, and it will be Volkanovski’s first title fight. While Magomedsharipov won’t get the winner of the bout, he could get the loser. Both have a combined record of 41-5, so it will be worth watching.
