In May of 2013, Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder claimed that the team would “never” consider changing their name. Despite polarizing opinions on both sides of the conversation, Snyder stands corrected seven years later.
As confirmed on Monday, Washington intends to change their team name leading up to the 2020 season. It is expected that the name will come sooner than later, considering official training camp sessions begin for teams on July 28th.
