Was Okada/Omega II Better than I?

On June 11th, Kazuchika Okada defended his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Kenny Omega, in a rematch from their Wrestle Kingdom 11 match at the Tokyo Dome. This match was emotionally built, and from the beginning to end, you could tell it was not going to be anything short of amazing.

The first time that these two men went one-on-one was on January 4th at Wrestle Kingdom 11 in the Tokyo Dome. From the buildup, the scene looked as if it was going to be Omega walking out with the prestigious IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Omega won the G1 Climax the year before, but after forty five minutes, it was Okada who did absolutely everything to survive the match in one piece.

After their first match, it had everyone wondering when we would be seeing the rematch of the self-rated six star match. It was finally announced in May, as Okada challenged Omega to a rematch at Dominion once again for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in a match that nobody expected to end the way it did.

If you are from the west coast or east coast, you had to stay awake until late for the Dominion event, just like I did. We saw many twists and turns take place, from new champions, to surprise victories. That all was before the main event of the night that left everyone in awe, and believing they potentially saw the match of the generation.

This match lasted an hour, and it ended in a draw. Nothing about the match was seen as poor, but it was seen as two legends fighting for the right of Ace of Japan. The crowd, Bullet Club, and Gedo were in excitement from trying to help either Omega or Okada with motivation to win the match.

Some people loved it, while others hated it. It has given enough for possibly another match between the two, as most hope for an epic finale to take place sooner rather than later.
