Warriors Win 2015 NBA Championship

All eyes were on game 6 in the NBA Finals as Stephen Curry and the Warriors looked to close the curtain on LeBron James and the Cavs. With the Warriors leading the series 3-2, the Cavs needed to win to stay alive and ultimately force a game seven.

In the first quarter, Curry and Andre Iguodala showed up like themselves, shooting 7/15 with 16 points. James took a back seat to open the game up, as the point leader for the Cavaliers was power forward Tristan Thompson with 6. As the first quarter came to a close, the score sat in the Warriors’ favor, 28-15.

As the second quarter passed on, fans in the arena could start to witness “King James” take over, going from 4 points at the end of the first quarter, to 15 at the end of the first half. Although James has arguably been the reason that the Cavaliers got this far in the first place, Thompson continued to play flawlessly as he shot 5/6 with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

The Warriors had nine players check in during the first half, compared to the Cavs who only had 7. The Warriors only had Iguodala and Curry in double digits when it came to points, combining for 21 points and 8 assists. The Warriors went from a 13 point lead at the end of the first quarter, to just a 2 point advantage.

Through the third quarter, the Warriors bounced right back. Although Curry is the reigning MVP, all eyes were on Iguodala as he had 17 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Why are the Cavs losing this one? J.R. Smith only contained 4 points himself, shooting only twice in the first half. As the third quarter came to a close, the score was still in Golden State’s favor, 73-61.

One last quarter to play, as the Warriors lead by 12, there didn’t seem to be anything from stopping their title run. As LeBron lead the Cavs in almost every stat there was, the Golden State Warriors would emerge as the real kings of the NBA, winning by a final score of 105-97. This is the first championship for the Warriors since the 1975 championship run for the team, and it was long overdue.
