Twins, Park agree to four year pact
The Minnesota Twins have signed slugging first baseman Byung-ho Park to a four year, $12 Million contract, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. As previously reported here on The Athletes Hub, the Twins won the right to negotiate with Park on November 9th.
Park, 28, has hit 105 HRs in the past two seasons combined (52 in ’14, 53 in ’15). You add that to the combined 270 RBIs he’s hit since the 2013 campaign and you can decipher that he is a threat at the plate.
The nag on him is the fact that he’s coming from the Korean Baseball Organization, a notorious hitter friendly league. Can he hit in the majors? That is to be seen. He is going into a great situation in Minnesota. He can slot in as DH and the Twins are looking up. They were a surprise team in 2015, winning 83 games. They have a young core with Byron Buxton, Eddie Rosario, Miguel Sano, and others. Throw in Park, and this team could win more than 83 in 2015.
