Travis Hunter Shocks College Football, Commits to Jackson State

As the early signing period began, there were rumors of cornerback prospect Travis Hunter flipping from his commitment to Florida State. On Wednesday afternoon, Hunter made it official with a surprising destination.
Hunter announced that he will instead be committing to Jackson State. The top recruit grew up idolizing Deion Sanders, who will now be his head coach at the HBCU.
“I look forward to working with the iconic Deion Sanders, and especially along with my fellow Tigers,” Hunter said on social media. “Along with Coach Prime, they have made me feel like I’m already a part of the team. Like I’m home. And I can’t wait to welcome the next class of top athletes into the family of HBCUs.”
Hunter previously committed to Florida State in March of 2020. The silver lining for the Seminoles is that they received a National Letter of Intent from five-star safety Sam McCall on Wednesday. As of this time, Florida State has a signing class ranking of No. 12 nationally.
