The Toronto Blue have reportedly acquired RHP Jason Grilli from the Atlanta Braves. The deal reportedly hasn’t been approved, but the parameters of the deal have been agreed upon. The Jays will pay the pro rated, league minimum part of Grilli’s salary.

The 39 year old Grilli will provide experience to a struggling Jays pen despite struggles of his own. Grilli has a 5.29 ERA in 17 innings this year. However, last season, Grilli had modest success in the back of the Braves tumultuous bullpen, posting a 2.94 ERA and 24 saves in 33.2 IP.

Grilli has played for eight teams over his 13 year career. He has a record of 26-38 with a 4.14 ERA, 584 strikeouts, and 76 saves in his career.

Ratcliffe, 21, has yet to reach any higher than Low-A ball. An 18th round pick in 2013, Ratcliffe has posted a 4.91 ERA in 62.1 pro IP. He had been a catcher for most of his amateur career, and although it’s unlikely, maybe the Braves transition him back behind the plate.
