With the MLB season approaching, the Toronto Blue Jays have been desperate to find a home stadium within the United States. After reaching out to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, the Blue Jays have formally announced that their home games will take place in Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo.
Due to travel restrictions, the Blue Jays were unable to maintain their home games in Toronto. Per Canadian measures, the team would have needed to quarantine for 14 days every time they returned from a road trip within the United States.
At one point in time, the team considered displaying their home games in TD Ballpark, their spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida. However, with COVID-19 numbers rising in Florida, the Blue Jays were forced to find an alternative solution.
Issues to be addressed at Sahlen Field include updated lighting, the clubhouse size, and the condition of the training facility. The Bisons’ season was cancelled, along with the rest of the Triple-A season, in late June.
