Top Sellers for the MLB Trade Deadline
With the MLB Trade Deadline approaching at a fast pace, multiple teams are looking to gain a few missing pieces to add to their roster in order to prepare for a playoff run. With many speculations on who could be available to the league, let’s take a look at what teams are most interested in selling some of their valuable assets:
The Marlins recently took a dumpster dive in the MLB, losing their franchise stud Giancarlo Stanton to a hand injury. According to the New York Times Joel Sherman, the Marlins are going to be looking to sell some valuable players this year.
Some names you may see brought up are veteran starters Dan Haren and Mat Latos. The Marlins are looking to deal their bullpen arms as well, as reports continue to claim that Matt Dunn and Steve Cishek could be on the move this year.
According to Fox Sports’ Jon Morosi, trade offers have already been received for some of these valuable arms, and you can look for at least two of these pitchers to be traded away after the deadline passes.
The Reds have yet to deny reports that starting pitcher Johnny Cueto is on the trade block, so you can look for multiple offers to be sent for the young man. Cueto will make any starting rotation better than before, and it’s obvious that the Reds could use the offensive support in return.
Teams like the Dodgers, Blue Jays and the Yankees have shown interest in Cueto, but what about the Astros? Houston has been looking to add a starting pitcher for their playoff run in 2015, so it will be a tight race to see who the Reds will make a deal with.
3. New York Mets
Niese is a nice arm to have for a rotation, but I don’t think the Cubs are the right fit for him. CBS Sports reported that the Cubs denied interest in the moment, so it seems as though the Dodgers are the front runner when it comes to a potential upcoming trade.
