The unofficial free agency buzz surrounding New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has forced upon multiple dream scenarios in which the Hall of Fame quarterback leaves his home of the last 21 seasons. One of the rumored suitors has been the Tennessee Titans, who were one game away last season from their first Super Bowl appearance since 1999.
Since taking over in Week 7, Tannehill has been an above-average option for the Titans. In total, he put together 2,742 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. Tennessee finished the season 7-4 in the regular season with the 31-year old under center.
This week, reports have come out that re-signing Tannehill is the top priority for the Titans. Despite the short-term success that a name such as Brady could bring, Tannehill seems to be the long-term answer.
Both sides are working towards a long-term extension, and mutual interest is apparent at this time. With more than $50M in cap space, the Titans have been forced to work around CBA negotiations and other pending offers with names such as Derrick Henry and Jack Conklin.
