Tiago Splitter Traded to Hawks
The Spurs have been active so far on Wednesday and they continue to makes moves. After agreeing to terms with Kawhi Leonard, as well as re-signing Guard Danny Green to a 4 year, $45 million deal, it seems San Antonio has parted ways with Tiago Splitter.
Several reports say the Spurs have traded the center to the Atlanta Hawks in a trade in order to create cap space. This isn’t surprising with the Spurs, as they are in the running for forward LaMarcus Aldridge.
Aldridge, who recently had a meeting with the Lakers, apparently wasn’t blown away with their sales pitch and that probably sky rocketed the Spurs to the top of the list. San Antonio notified teams that Splitter was on the trade block and there was a growing interest in him. In fact, plenty of teams contacted the Spurs about obtaining the services of the big man.
With Aldridge expected to make a decision fairly soon, and the Spurs clearing up some cap space, it seems he is destined to end up with San Antonio. If he does indeed sign with the Spurs, that can make them possibly the team to beat in the Western Conference.
