Three Bold Predictions for Week 1 of NFL

The NFL season is finally upon us! This will be a weekly series of three bold predictions for the week. Whether it’s a record being set, or an underdog team beating a heavy favorite, we’re going to have fun with this series:

1. Buffalo Bills Begin Season With Double-Digit Road Win

The Buffalo Bills are poised to have a massive season. Josh Allen is coming into his own and has run this offense well. It helps having an arguable top five wide receiver in Stefon Diggs, alongside other weapons such as Gabriel Davis and Dawson Knox. The Los Angeles Rams are the defending Super Bowl Champions, but have had minor small issues coming into this season. Matthew Stafford is having slight trouble with his throwing arm, while the team also lost offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell. Buffalo also lost their offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, but the Bills feel like a team that is going to set the tone early and keep the Rams offense in check.

2. Baker Mayfield Throws for 300+ yards and 3+ Touchdowns in Revenge Game vs Browns

The Cleveland Browns and Baker Mayfield saga was a mess this offseason, and it was surprising when Cleveland traded their former top pick to their Week 1 opponent in the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are now receiving arguably their best quarterback since a fully-healthy Cam Newton. This is great news for wide receiver DJ Moore, who has been stellar over the past three years, despite inconsistent play behind center. The Browns are expected to start veteran Jacoby Brissett for their first 11 games of the year, but his last stint with the Miami Dolphins is one to forget. The Panthers defense should manage to shut down Brissett, while the healthy offense consisting of DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson, Christian McCaffery and more are in for big Week 1.

3. Trevor Lawrence and the Jags Celebrate a Commanding Victory Against Washington

Carson Wentz starts the 2022 NFL season right where he ended the last season; losing a big game to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence is ready to take the next step in 2022 with the additions of Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Zay Jones to the offense and the return of college teammate Travis Etienne making his league debut. Washington is a question mark to start 2022. The level of play for Wentz is a worry and the fact they will be missing defensive end Chase Young for at least the first four games of the year could result in a rocky start. The Jaguars defense could surprise on Sunday, as the attack of Josh Allen, Travon Walker, Arden Key, and K’lavon Chaisson looked impressive in the preseason.
