The Top NXT Women’s Champions

In this segment, I will attempt to rank the best of the NXT Women’s champions. This may regard the legacy they have brought forth for themselves, or just how dominant they may have been during their reign at the top of the industry. Each individual has reached the same destination at one point in time, but all of the mentioned fighter have far different paths.
#5: Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks, who held the NXT Women’s Championship for exactly 192 days, won the Women’s Championship title at NXT TakeOver: Rival. Defeating Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Bayley in order to secure the title, Banks proved more than worthy when it came to holding the belt around her waist.
Banks then went on to defend her title against Charlotte, Alexa Bliss, and even Becky Lynch. After the 192 days, Banks finally lost the belt in a match against Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. With that, Banks secured shortest reign in terms of NXT Women’s champions of all-time, which justifies her placement at #5 on this list.
#4: Bayley
As mentioned previously, Bayley won the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. After defeating Sasha Banks, Bayley was able to secure her spot in the limelight within the Women’s division. The 28-year old went on to hold the title for a staggering 223 days, defending the title against the likes of Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Eva Marie, Nia Jax, as well as Carmella. To wrap up her reign, Bayley suffered defeat against none other than Asuka.
While Bayley did leave her mark within the company, it’s difficult to put her anywhere above #4. In a powerhouse division such as this, there have been champions that have accomplished more than Bayley has during their reign.
#3: Paige
Paige won the NXT Women’s Championship in a tournament, as she eliminated Tamina Snuka in the first round, Alicia Fox in the second, and then claimed her title in the finals after becoming victorious against Emma. Paige went on to defend the title against Emma in a rematch, Summer Rae, and Natalya.
Paige was the Women’s champion within the NXT, but was also the only champion who was forced to vacate her title by the General Manager. Paige set the mark as champion, holding it for an astounding 274 days. Despite her never being loved by the fans, and often showing disrespect towards the meaning of the title, Paige still has done enough during her reign to secure the #3 spot on this list.
#2: Charlotte
Much like Paige, Charlotte won the NXT Women’s Championship within a tournament, as she defeated Emma in the first round, Alexa Bliss in the next, and then overcame Natalya in the finals to become the reigning champion at the time. From there, Charlotte went on to face Summer Rae, Bayley, and Sasha Banks as champion.
After a long period, she then suffered a loss in a title match to Banks at NXT TakeOver: Rival. While her father, Ric Flair, has made his own impact within the wrestling universe, Charlotte did a miraculous job when it came to creating her own legacy as champion.
#1: Asuka
Viewed as the longest reigning champion in the history of the division, Asuka won the Women’s title at NXT TakeOver: Dallas, after forcing Bayley into the famous “Asuka Lock”. After that, Asuka went on a hot streak as champion, defeating the likes of Nia Jax, Bayley, Mickie James, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Nikki Cross, Ruby Riot, and Ember Moon as well.
As of today, Asuka is currently undefeated, and also holds the record for being the longest reigning NXT Women’s champion at 496 days and counting. While she continues to ride her hot streak, it has left fans wondering who within the division is capable of defeating the fearless wrestler.
