Former Texas A&M and Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel has been riding a rollercoaster of incidents since the 2014 NFL Draft, where Manziel was taken 22nd overall by a Cleveland team that has always had issue with quarterbacks.

From there on, Manziel was a second string QB, and had one NFL start in his rookie season. He went to rehab for partying, came back, and started 6 games (went 2-4 as a starter), partied again, got benched for the year, and now is a NFL Free Agent dealing with a domestic assault case on his Ex-Girlfriend.

People continue to criticize Manziel for his behavior and beg him to get help. He’s been in multiple incidents involving parties, drugs, alcohol and domestic disputes.

December 8th, 2012 : Manziel wins the Heisman Trophy as a freshman

As a freshman at Texas A&M, Manziel won the greatest trophy in college football, The Heisman Trophy. He had 295 completed passes, with a 68.0% completion percentage, a 155.3 passer rating, with 26 passing TDs to 9 INTs. As a rusher, he had 1,410 rushing yards with 21 rushing TDs.

May 8th, 2014 : Drafted 22nd overall by the Cleveland Browns

Having 21 teams pass on him wasn’t exactly the night Manziel had planned. Many thought the Dallas Cowboys were going to draft him, but instead, he passed just for the Browns to complete their third trade of the night to snag Manziel at 22. They believed the Johnny hype and expected a starter out of him.

December 14th, 2014 : Johnny’s first NFL start

The first start of Manziel’s career didn’t go as planned with a 30-0 loss to Cincinnati. Manziel finished the game 10-18 with 2 interceptions. Many thought that this was just a fluke and the starstruck rookie was just getting his feet wet. The next week, he’d go to Carolina to play the Panthers and get injured in the 1st quarter. Manziel’s first year in the leauge was not ecstatic at all.

February 3rd, 2015 : Manziel enters rehab

After a full offseason of partying and drinking, Manziel decided to enter a rehab center to prepare himself for the 2015-2016 season and get the thought of partying out of his mind. He exited mid-June for the spring OTAs, and claimed he was ready to go for the season. With Hoyer being gone and McCown being the QB to give him competition, things were looking up for the young man. The training camps would be his chance and he lost.

September 20th, 2015 : Manziel gets the job again

Johnny did get the starting job eventually as McCown got hurt in week one. He would return a few weeks later, but Manziel showcased decent stats to prove he could be a starter. After a few weeks, Manziel got the job again and kept up with the likes of the Seahawks. As he kept partying, Mike Pettine decided to bench him and players were furious. He would not start again for the rest of the season.

February 5th, 2016 : Manziel’s agent dumps him

In the wake of a domestic assault, Manziels agent Erik Burkhardt decided to “terminate any professional relationship with Johnny Manziel”. This soon would be followed by more parties, and even trashing a $25 million mansion and causing $250,000 in damages.

March 9th, 2016 : Johnny gets cut

You know it’s bad when the Cleveland Browns cut a QB. Manziel became a cancer for the team and they decided to release him. Shortly after he’d be in a hit and run, assault his Ex-Girlfriend yet again, and charged with a night of jail. At this point, Manziel has hit rock bottom, being spotted at clubs across the west coast, and going to Las Vegas consistently.

April 14th, 2016 : Manziel gets dumped again

Manziel’s second agent dumped him because of the same reason, he could not stay out of trouble. At this point, he has a court date to settle his multiple domestic violence and dispute charges. His former agent says “he needs to go get help for his problems”. Even his father said “if he does not get help, he will not live to see is 24th birthday”. Nike canceled his deal a few days later, so he now has little to no money income.

May 5th, 2016 : Court Date

Manziel has been indicted for domestic assault, and a restraining order has been set on him so he can not have any contact or communication with her or he will be put up to a month of jail and a max $40,000 fine. Nobody can save Manziel at this point. He’s turned out to be a Ryan Leaf-type of QB, a lot of talent but a team cancer.

We could be seeing the end of Mr. Manziel, and no team is interested. He has been offered help multiple times and refused it saying “you guys act like what I’m doing is new. I’ve been doing the same thing since day one”.

Manziel fans are disappointed, and NFL fans are mocking this young man. He desperately needs help or he could be wiped off the face of the NFL. The question now is simple, what next Johnny?
