The Fiend: Primed for Universal Championship

Since Bray Wyatt returned with a new gimmick labeled as ‘The Fiend’, he has gained momentum during the prime of his career. He previously took a hiatus in order to get in better shape, and it clearly paid off.

The previous “cult leader” gimmick for Wyatt had potential, but resulted in a loss in a majority of his feuds. Despite a brief WWE Championship reign, it wasn’t worth remembering.

The Fiend was not expected by fans, but it received a positive reaction. For weeks, it was “Wyatt’s Firefly Funhouse”; a Mr. Rodgers segment that became rather disturbing. The Fiend debuted when he attacked an old rival in Finn Balor, as he ultimately beat Balor at SummerSlam.

He is currently feuding with Universal Champion Seth Rollins and is scheduled to face off with him at Hell in a Cell on October 6th. With his current momentum, The Fiend may walk out as the new Universal Champion. With the popularity he is attracting, this may be the perfect route for the WWE.

Rollins has been an efficient Champion, despite his opinionated personality, but The Fiend would be a breath of fresh air. He is a contender for Wrestler of the Year, and the results at Hell in a Cell could weigh into his case.
