T.Y. Hilton Gets His Payday with Indy
On Thursday morning, the Indianapolis Colts and wide receiver T.Y. Hilton came to a contract extension that was well deserved. The deal is worth 5 years, $65 million. For Hilton, $39 million of that is guaranteed.
Hilton’s guaranteed amount is almost doubled of what quarterback Andrew Luck was dealt ($22.1 million), which goes to show you just how important Hilton is to this organization.
Hilton was drafted in 2012 by the Colts, and is already coming off of his first pro-bowl appearance. Hilton managed to rack in 82 receptions for 1,345 yards in the 2014 season.
“It’s a great day for the Indianapolis Colts, T.Y. Hilton and his family,” Colts general manager Ryan Grigson stated. “We’re extremely happy as an organization to ensure that T.Y. will continue to be a part of our journey for many years to come. His daily excellence on and off the field is a shining example of an individual striving for greatness and what it truly means to be a Colt.”
The Colts plan on running the AFC this upcoming season, and signing Hilton to a long-term deal was one step in the right direction.
