Shaq Lawson To Receive Shoulder Surgery

On Monday afternoon, the Buffalo Bills organization announced that their first round pick Shaq Lawson would undergo shoulder surgery before the 2016 regular season.

The team stated in a press conference that Lawson could have played through the injury, yet it would be in his best interest to receive treatment while he is young. No timeline has yet to be given on Lawson’s recovery period, but it will most likely keep him out of training camp and even limit him during the preseason in August.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, this type of injury can keep an individual out for 4-6 months, but obviously some heal faster than others. Lawson was drafted #19 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, and all the organizations were aware of Lawson’s condition.

According to Ian Rapoport, Lawson will receive the surgery on Tuesday morning, and may be forced to start the regular season on the PUP list.
