Seattle’s Bright Future

The Seahawks had to make a choice this off-season. Either sign quarterback Russell Wilson to a long-term deal, or extend the contract of linebacker Bobby Wagner.

The organization ultimately chose Wilson, and lets face it, the more successful franchises in the NFL are set at quarterback, and have been for a while. Tom Brady and the Patriots, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, and even Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers are just a few examples.

The Seahawks have possibly just labeled themselves as perennial contenders by inking signal caller Russell Wilson to a four-year deal worth $87.6 million ($60+ million guarenteed).
In only two years with the Seahawks, Wilson and company have won two conference championships and one Super Bowl. The argument can be made that the defense has been a major part in their success, however, Wilson doesn’t turn the ball over a lot.

Wilson has worked with undrafted receivers, and had it not been for his ability to escape from the pass rush, they probably would’ve lost the NFC championship game last year.
This is great move for the Seahawks. They can still use the franchise tag on a guy like Wagner at the end of the season this year. They have young talent that can develop around Wilson. Point blank the future looks great for the Seahawks.
