On Tuesday afternoon, the UFC announced that Valentina Schevchenko is scheduled to take on Sijara Eubanks for the vacant UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship. The bout will take place at UFC 230 on November 3rd in Madison Square Garden. Most believed Schevchenko would fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 on December 8th in Toronto.
Sijara Eubanks, who took part in the Ultimate Fighter 26, made it to the finals of the season. Due to kidney failure, Eubanks wasn’t eligible to fight at the time. With a recent win over Lauren Murphy, this has given her the status as a contender.
Valentina Schevchenko was originally supposed to fight the then-champion in Nico Montano, but on the day of weigh-ins, Montano became ill and was pulled off the card. In result, she was stripped of the championship and Schevchenko was announced to fight a worthy contender for the vacant championship.
Schevchenko vs Eubanks is going to be a fight to remember. The women’s Flyweight Championship is on the line, and the future of the division is still open.
