Ryne Sandberg Steps Down as Manager
As the Philadelphia Phillies are left with the worst record in the MLB, another blow took place as manager Ryne Sandberg chose to step down. Sandberg had the following to say during his press conference on Friday;
“I do not like to lose. I hate to lose,” Sandberg said. “I think that’s the biggest thing that weighed on me”.
Pete Mackanin is set to become the interim manager for the organization for at least the weekend. Sandberg has been in the coaching position since 2013, when he himself took over as an interim manager.
Sandberg now exits the organization with a coaching record of 119-159. Will another team take a chance on Sandberg and offer him a deal? It’s obvious that the accomplishments have yet to be achieved, but I’ve seen crazier things happen within the MLB.
