WWE has announced that superstar Roman Reigns will be suspended for 30 days for violating the company’s wellness policy. This is coming off of Reigns being announced last night for the next Pay Per View, Battleground, where he is scheduled to be facing Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Ever since coming into the company, Reigns has been pushed as this powerhouse superstar who is being groomed to be the face of the company. Reigns has won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship three times, WWE Tag Team Champion once and has won the Royal Rumble match in 2015. Reigns has also set the record for most elimination in a rumble match in the 2014 Royal Rumble match with 12.
The company is really high on Reigns, which a lot of people can easily tell. Even though the company wants him to be the next big thing, the fans do not feel the same way. The reaction from the fans to Reigns has been nothing but awful. A big reason why the fans are not behind Reigns is because of his mic skills and his in ring ability. A lot of wrestling fans think Reigns have not improved on the microphone same with his in ring ability.
This is the first time that Reigns has done this, so on the company side of things, this suspension is almost like a warning to him making sure he does not do it again. Now that he is suspended, what does this mean for the main event at Battleground?
Reigns’ suspension will be over before Battleground so one option could be keeping him in the championship match. That is the option that most people think WWE will go with, since the company has a lot invested in this match. Another thing that could happen is the company could punish Reigns for violating company policy and, because he will not be there for any of the match buildup, take him out of the championship match completely making Rollins vs Ambrose a singles match.
On the Reigns side of things, this is the first time he has done this so he will have to deal with the suspension and learn from his mistake. Reigns will still be a top guy when he comes back, so he will not lose his place in the roster during all of this. So during his time off, he will have to think of how he could fix this problem and make sure this does never happened again.
