As reported on Saturday, Robert Whittaker (hernia) has been pulled from his UFC 234 title defense tonight against Kelvin Gastelum. The new co-main event is now Anderson Silva vs. Israel Adesanya, which has been anticipated for months.

According to sources, Whittaker was taken to the hospital late on Friday night, and was unable to retain his natural form.

Had this fight taken place, it would have been the first time in UFC history that two fighters in their 20’s would have battled for the Middleweight title.

Due to the injury to Whittaker, Gastelum will undergo surgery today, according to Dana White. The UFC seems to have an ongoing issue with injuries over the last several months, and this only adds fuel to the fire.
