Robert Griffin III Out Next 8 Games

After signing with the Cleveland Browns this  past offseason, everything seemed to be going well for Robert Griffin III. A lot of people thought he could do well in the Browns offense, but his time in Cleveland just went from good to bad.

During Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he suffered a fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder and is going to be out for the next eight games as the team placed him on the injured reserve list.

In Sunday’s game, Griffin threw for 190 yards, 1 interception, with a passer rating of 55.0. He also rushed for 37 yards on 5 attempts, fumbling the ball once. During the game, he looked fine for his first start since 2013, but there is still room to improve.

Even though he has shown he is injury prone the last few seasons, Griffin is still a solid quarterback when healthy and in the right offensive system. He has an average arm, and he can make plays, which was showcased during his rookie season. He is not only dangerous with his arm, he is also a great runner as well if you let him loose.

The team is lucky that he did not suffer this late in the season, but after his first start with the team and already injured, that is some bad luck on the teams part. Griffin gives the Browns a legit quarterback which the team has not had in awhile, the team is used to having disappointing busts at quarterback.

Expect the team to start Josh McCown as the starting quarterback, unless the team wants to give rookie quarterback Cody Kessler a chance at the starting job, which appears doubtful.

On Griffin’s side of things, he already has a reputation of being an injury-prone quarterback during his time with the Washington Redskins and getting injured in his first game with a new team is a bad break for him.

He will have to work hard to rehab from this injury since he has something to prove with the Browns and that is he can be a good and consistent quarterback.
