Robby Fabbri has quietly emerged as a force for Blues

The St. Louis Blues will begin their Western Conference Finals series against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday, and it’s remarkable how they’ve made it this far. Not because they weren’t expected to, but because of the unexpected leadership they’ve received. One man who’s quietly lead the way is rookie Robby Fabbri.

Fabbri has had an impressive offensive postseason. He has 13 points in 14 games and has demonstrated that he can perform in pressure situations. Not only that, he’s also shown incredible discipline, taking only six minutes with of penalties. One thing about it all that I find impressive is his goals to assists ratio. 10 of Fabbri’s 13 points have been assists. This shows me that he’s not too concerned with being the guy that scores all the time, but rather is comfortable creating the play rather than finishing it. That trait is something you don’t really see in a lot of rookies. His teammates just seem to play better when he’s on the ice.

To think that Fabbri almost didn’t make the team out of training camp makes this even more impressive. Another great thing about his situation is the Blues have enough depth to win it all, even if Fabbri goes through a bit of a struggle. It’ll be interesting to see where his career takes him from here and how his playoff will play out.
