According to a report early Thursday morning, the Phillies have decided to part ways with their general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.
Before being hired in 2008 as the general manager, Ruben spent ten years with the Phillies as assistant general manager. The Phillies won the World Series in Amaro Jr’s first year as the General manager and went to back-to-back World Series in his second year, but they ended up losing to the New York Yankees.
However, the Phillies have not finished above .500 since 2011 and currently own the worst record in Major League Baseball. Former assistant general manager Scott Proefrock will take over as interim general manager immediately.
