Per WEEI’s Lou Merloni, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Mookie Betts are closing in on an extension that will keep Betts in Los Angeles for the foreseeable future. On Wednesday, it was reported that the figure could be over the next 12 years and worth roughly $365 million.

Betts, who was traded to the Dodgers in February of last season, was projected to become a free agent after the upcoming season. As a four-time All-Star, Betts won the American League MVP award in 2018.

Previously, the Boston Red Sox offered Betts an extension worth $300 million roughly. Instead of signing, he elected to “bet on himself” and play out his current contract. As a result, Betts stands as one of the most lucrative players in baseball.
