Report: Bulls and Hoiberg coming to terms on five-year contract
Hoiberg.
Former NBA player with the Chicago Bulls in 1999-2003, coached the Iowa State Cyclones to a 115-56 record and four NCAA tournaments. However it was acknowledged by Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard that it had been Hoibergs dream to coach in the NBA. This deal makes sense for the two parties based on their well-known mutual friendship over the years.
Teams wanting a fresh start with a new, first year head coach seems to be a recurring theme in recent years for the NBA. Steve Kerr and David Blatt will be the first two first-year NBA coaches to coach against each other in an NBA Finals since the first year of the league. Other recent examples include Jason Kidd, Brad Stevens and Derek Fisher. Some of these examples having more success than others. If the Bulls so hire Hoiberg, we will see how he works out.
