Rangers Win 2-1 in Overtime to Advance to Eastern Conference Finals
The New York Rangers have beaten the Washington Capitals in overtime, 2-1, to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Rangers had the NHL’s best record over the regular season and will advance to the Conference finals for the second year in a row.
The Rangers fell far back behind the Capitals, going down 3 games to 1. On the verge of elimination, the Rangers stormed back in the series by the play of Henrik Lundqvist who made 35 saves in the overtime game. Derek Stepan had the game winning goal 11 minutes 24 seconds into overtime. The Rangers have won 14 of their last 17 games in which they have faced elimination.
The Rangers will face Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Finals, a team that beat them in all 3 games they played this season, but have not played since December 1.
The first game will be held at Madison Square Garden this Saturday.
