Pittsburgh K Shaun Suisham Tears ACL
Pittsburgh Steelers Kicker Shaun Suisham will be placed on season ending IR with a torn ACL. The injury came Sunday night in the Hall of Fame game when Suisham attempted to help out on a tackle.
After the game, no one in the organization, including Head Coach Mike Tomlin, had any comments regarding the severity of the injury.
The 33-year old was the only kicker on the 90 man roster, leaving a current void at the position.
On Tuesday, the Steelers will invite Jay Feeley, Billy Cundiff, Garrett Hartley and Alex Henery for workouts in hopes they can find a viable replacement.
Suisham has been the everyday kicker since 2010, and last year signed a four-year deal to stay in the Steel City. The 12-year veteran is regarded as one of the franchise’s most accurate kickers.
His special team leadership and great situational kicking will sorely be missed. The last two seasons, Suisham made 59 of his 64 field goal attempts, one of the best marks in the NFL during that span. He won’t be easy to replace, but starting Tuesday, Pittsburgh will be on the hunt for a new place kicker.
