PGA Hero Tom Watson Set to Retire
Tom Watson will be set to go for his 43rd Masters tournament, but the long-time legend claims that he is ready to put the game behind him.
“The golf course is too big for me, and with my declining skills and length, I won’t be playing that,” Watson said. “The toolbox is kind of half empty with the tools I used to be able to play good golf. Those tools are missing right now or pretty rusty, rusty like me.”
Watson made his mark in the British Open, winning it all in 1975, 1977, 1980, 1982 and 1983. Watson would also manage to win at the Masters in the 1977 and 1981 season. The eight-time Major winner would go on to claim that the only thing he regrets is that “it’s all over”. Watson has made the PGA his life, playing the game professionally for 40 years of his life.
The well-respected golf figure hopes to make this upcoming Masters tournament one to remember, but overall just wants to have a good time on the course.
