On Tuesday, it was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have agreed on a 10-year extension. The deal will lock Mahomes to Kansas City through the 2031 season, and is worth over $400 million; the most lucrative in NFL history. He was previously signed through the 2021 season.
According to rumors, the amount Mahomes receives on an annual basis could be based on the NFL’s flexible salary cap. At this time, this has not been confirmed.
Mahomes, 24, is the youngest player in NFL history to win the Super Bowl MVP. Just last season, he totaled 4,031 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Under Mahomes, the Chiefs are 24-7 in the regular season.
