Odell Beckham May Not Practice Until Training Camp

Missing the first four games last year due to an aggravated hamstring, Odell Beckham Jr. will now miss some practice time because of a sore hamstring. This year it happens to be the opposite hamstring, and we have to wonder now if this will become a consistent issue for the second year wide out.

As fans we like talent, but when does attendance become more important than talent? We watched a Darren McFadden departure in Oakland this year. We all know that the talent was there, but in seven years, he only played one full season. Timing is everything in the NFL, and some even say that the NFL stands for “Not For Long”.

For only playing in 12 games, Beckham still reached 1,300 yards. He had a great season last year, not to mention his last four games, where he averaged nearly 11 catches, 150 yards, and almost two touchdowns per game. If you play fantasy football and had him on your team, then you love these numbers. However, Giants fans can’t help you but overlook that their team went 6-10 last year.

The NFC East is going to be tough to win, and the Cowboys set the standard last year. For fantasy fans, keep an eye on him. Giants fans on the other hand, does his attendance outweigh his talent?

Don’t get me wrong. He hasn’t missed a game yet this season, but it looks grim. He’s only 22 years old and hasn’t played in 25 percent of eligible games. On a positive note, Eli Manning has stated that he’s getting more comfortable in offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo’s system. This will be key for all players to succeed.

I still think OBJ will be a top five receiver, but he’ll have to be healthy to do so. Look for Victor Cruz in the later rounds, because if something does happen to Beckham, Cruz will see an increase in targets and receptions.
