NJPW Dominion 6.12: Preview and Predictions

On Sunday, June 12th NJPW brings us their biggest single event show of the year, Dominion. You can catch it live on New Japan World with a subscription starting at 1 am Est time. This show will have major implications on the NJPW vs. AEW joint Pay Per View that will be taking place on Sunday, June 26th.
Master Wato, Ryusuke Taguchi, and Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. The United Empire (Aaron Henare, TJP, and Francesco Akira)
The opening Match for Dominion does have some stakes to it as Taguchi and Wato are the Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Akira and TJP already hold a win over them at the Best of the Super Juniors Finals so if they were to get another fall on the Champs it would grant them an opportunity at the Championships.
Prediction: The United Empire wins
Bullet Club (Ace Austin, Taiji Ishimori, and El Phantasmo) vs. Los Inglobernables De Japon (Bushi, Hiromu Takahashi, and Tetsuya Naito)
New Bullet Club member Ace Austin makes his Bullet Club debut here in this special 6 man tag. Hiromu owns a pinfall over Austin and is owed an X Division Championship shot at some point, and El Phantasmo seems to be taking the next step into the Heavyweight divison so we shall see how he fairs against the likes of Tetsuya Naito a multi time IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion.
Prediction: Bullet Club
Toru Yano vs Doc Gallows
We all know what this match will be, your typical Yano joke match to please the crowd against a normally serious opponent in Doc Gallows of the Bullet Club. What kind of shenanigans does Yano have in store for Gallows?
Prediction: Doc Gallows
Never Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Championships: House of Torture (EVIL, Sho, and Yujirio Takahashi) vs. Suzuki-Gun (Zack Sabre Jr. El Desperado, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru)
The 6-man belts have been held hostage by the House of Torture for most of 2022 and this Suzuki-Gun has stepped up to the plate. Some questions going into the match are how ready is El Desperado as he just went through a 30-minute war with Hiromu Takahashi last Friday, so is he 100%? Also how with Suzuki-Gun deal with the interference of Dick Togo on the House of Torture’s behalf.
Prediction: Suzuki-Gun wins
IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships: Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale and Chase Owens) (c) vs. The United Empire (Jeff Cobb and The Great O’Khan)
This is a really interesting match as there are a few different scenarios. Remember as Cobb and O’Khan attacked FTR and Roppongi Vice on AEW Dynamite 2 weeks ago and now this past Wednesday other members of United Empire (Will Ospreay, Aaron Henare, and Aussie Open) would attack FTR and Trent Barretta. I would not be shocked to see FTR and even Trent Barretta and Rocky Romero interrupt this Tag title match causing no contest and setting up a 4-way winner Take all Tag match for AEW vs NJPW Forbidden Door which is just 2 weeks away.
Prediction: The United Empire (but don’t be shocked if it’s a no-contest)
Interim AEW World Title Eliminator Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hirooki Goto
This should be a fun one, CM Punk had to get foot surgery so for the time being AEW is Crowning an interim AEW World Champion, and since it was originally supposed to be CM Punk vs Hiroshi Tanahashi for the title at Forbidden Door, AEW has decided to get NJPW involved in the Eliminator series. Jon Moxley qualified for AEW’s side this past Wednesday so now who wins between Tanahashi and Goto?
Prediction: Hiroshi Tanahashi
NJPW King of Pro Wrestling Title 10 Minute Unlimited Pinfall Scramble Match: Shingo Takagi (c) vs. Taichi
So a very intriguing stipulation here for those who don’t know the KOPW title rules is that in every match a Champion and challenger come up with a unique stipulation to Wrestle the match under and then the fans vote on which stipulation gets the pass for that match. This match is basically who can get the most 3 counts on their opponent within a 10-minute time limit. The last time these two faced Takagi would defeat Taichi in a first to hit 30 taps of the mat with their shoulders down.
Prediction: Taichi
Never Openweight Championship: Tama Tonga (c) vs. Karl Anderson
The two former Bullet Club originals Clash in what should be a war. Not too long ago Tama Tonga and his brother Tonga Loa were kicked out of the Bullet Club shockingly by leader Jay White and then Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows were let back into the Bullet Club to essentially replace them so this is a personal match and also both Tonga and Anderson are 2 of the original Bullet Club members from the stable was created.
Prediction: Karl Anderson
IWGP United States Championship: Will Ospreay vs. SANADA
Juice Robinson has been stripped of the Championship due to having appendicitis, now Ospreay and SANADA battle for the Vacant title. SANADA was the former champion before he got hurt ironically in a match with Will Ospreay. Ospreay has been in his mind “screwed” out of a few big matches this year which he may have a case with the ref missing a kickout, and mis reading a tap out.
Prediction: Will Ospreay
IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchicka Okada (c) vs. Jay White
The main event is the one for all the marbles, Bullet Club vs. CHAOS. A very fun fact going into this match is that Jay White is career 3-1 against Okada in singles matches and undefeated against Okada in singles matches that took place on Japanese soil, Okada’s only win against White in singles action was in 2019 at the G1 Supercard which took place in New York. So by that logic, Jay White has the edge, but Okada has looked nearly unbeatable since winning the G1 Climax last October so something has got to give.
Prediction: Kazuchicka Okada
