Masdival is coming off a loss against Stephen Thompson at UFC 217 and could use this fight as a steppingstone for his future. Reflecting upon the past, Masdival was once close to a potential title fight, but since losing to Demian Maia and Thompson, it’s been a bumpy ride.
The last fight for Diaz went down as a decision loss to Anderson Silva in January of 2015. Over the course of his career, Diaz has proven to overcome opponents such as BJ Penn, Carlos Condit, and Georges St-Pierre. Just about everyone has been waiting for the return of Nick Diaz, and hopefully there are no foreseen obstacles.
