NFL Rookies of the Week: Week 5

Advertisements

In Week 5, we saw breakout games for some rookies, while others did not improve upon their first impressions. Here, we reflect on some of the top performances from this past weekend:

Honorable Mentions: Houston Texans QB Davis Mills (321 yards, 3 TD), New York Giants WR Kadarius Toney (10 receptions, 189 yards), Buffalo Bills DE Gregory Rousseau (5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT)

3. WR Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals

Chase had a monster receiving game in an overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers. He hauled in six receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown. Chase is shaping out to be a consistent receiving threat in the Bengals offense, as this marks his third Rookie of the Week honor.

2. RB Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers

Harris finally broke out with his first 100-yard rushing game. He finished with 143 all-purpose yards (123 rushing, 20 receiving) and a touchdown in the Steelers win over the Denver Broncos. Harris is starting to catch fire as the offensive line improves. This marks his second finish with Rookie of the Week honors in the last three weeks.

1. TE Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

Pitts takes home top honors for Week 5 with a big performance in London in a win over the New York Jets. Pitts ended the game with nine receptions to go with 119 yards and a score, stepping up for an offense that was missing Russell Gage and Calvin Ridley. It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks if Pitts can maintain his current level of play after a bye week.
