NFL Honors Recap

AP Most Valuable Player Cam Newton. There was a lot of talk between Cam Newton, Carson Palmer, and Tom Brady on who would win MVP of the year. At the end of the day, Newton took home the hardware winning NFL MVP. For good reasons as well, Newton stats this season proved that he was deserved to win this award.
AP Coach Of The Year Ron Rivera. After what Carolina did this season, Rivera deserved to win Coach of the year. After losing the number one wide receiver for the year in Kelven Benjamin, the team still had the best season in team history. With the team one win away from winning the Super Bowl, this team has a bright future with Rivera as head coach.
AP Comeback Player Of The Year Eric Berry. During the 2014 season, Berry was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, sidelining him for the rest of the season. Berry spent a lot of time rehabbing, to make sure he could be cleared to play in the 2015 season. During the preseason, Berry was cancer free and cleared to play. He put up great numbers this season. This is someone who overcame cancer and beat it, not allowing the illness to stop him from playing. Berry definitely deserves to win Comeback player of the year.
AP Offensive Player Of The Year Cam Newton. Taking home his first award of the night, Newton had a record breaking season offensively, helping the Panthers end the season 16-1 and one win away from making the Super Bowl. What makes Newton more deserving of winning this award is he did this without his number one target Kelvin Benjamin.
AP Defensive Player Of The Year JJ Watt. For the second straight season in a row, Watt showed why he is one of the best defensive players in the league, taking home the defensive player of the year award. Watt was a big reason in Houston Texans success all during the season, as he was able to pressure the quarterback, wreaking havoc on the field each and every week.
AP Offensive Rookie Of The Year Todd Gurley. Missing most of the first half of your rookie season does not look well in your chances in winning offensive or defensive Rookie of the year. Gurley proved critics wrong, bouncing back and producing double digit rushing touchdowns. When you are performing how he did in a rookie season, you are deserving of the award and that is what Gurley did. If Gurley can keep up the production, he will have a bright future in the NFL.
AP Defensive Rookie Of The Year Marcus Peters. It was obvious since the start of the season on who was winning defensive rookie of the year. Peters took home the hardware, putting up great numbers in his rookie season, being a big part of the Kansas City Chiefs magical comeback season.
Walter Peyton Man Of The Year Anquan Boldin. On the field, Boldin is making a difference. Off the field, he is doing the same thing in the community, helping people in San Francisco and Baltimore and other places. For everything Boldin has done, he proves he has a kind heart and deserved to win this award.
The 2016 Pro football hall of fame was announced during the award show. Brett Favre, Tony Dungy, Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, Eddie DeBartolo Jr, Ken Stabler and Dick Stanfel. These lucky eight people will all be joining Pro Football Hall Of Fame. It is a great class of football players and coaches that deserved the honor of being in the Hall of Fame. If there were one player that should have made it, it should have been Kurt Warner or Terrell Owens.
