Per reports, the New York Yankees have acquired closer Zach Britton from the Baltimore Orioles. Britton, one of the top relievers on the market, has a 3.45 ERA and four saves this season. It was just two seasons ago when Britton posted a 0.54 ERA and 47 saves.
The Yankees will send multiple prospects over to Baltimore, including right-hander Dillon Tate to Baltimore. Tate, 24, was previously acquired in a trade with the Texas Rangers. Since coming over, Tate has posted a 19-4 record and a 3.09 ERA in two levels of minor league play. This year, he has gone 5-2 with a 3.38 ERA with Double-A Trenton. Tate is #9 in the Yankees Top 30 prospects, according to MLB.com.
Baltimore will also acquire LHP Josh Rogers and RHP Cody Carroll. Carroll, 25, has a 2.67 ERA in four seasons of minor league play. Rogers, 23, has posted a 6-8 record with a 3.95 ERA in AAA this year. He has a career minor league record of 28-19 while posting a 3.16 ERA.
