BREAKING: Mookie Betts Heading to Los Angeles

After speculation that the Boston Red Sox may move on from Mookie Betts, we finally received our answer. On Sunday, the Red Sox sent Betts and David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and Connor Wong. Betts will be on the final year of his contract this upcoming season and becomes a free agent in 2021.

In 150 games last season, Betts hit 29 home runs, 80 RBI and has posted a .295 batting average. With his recent success, there’s a legitimate argument that the Dodgers have now become the favorites in the National League.

After losing in the National League Divisional Series to the Washington Nationals in five games last season, Los Angeles has continued to disappoint in the postseason.

As for the Red Sox, their 84-78 regular season record was enough for third in the AL East. They ended up missing the playoffs just one season after winning the World Series. After hiring Chaim Bloom to replace Dave Dombrowski, Boston seems to be heading in a new direction.
