MLB Team Preview #1 : The Los Angeles Dodgers

We are getting closer to Spring Training. It’s almost time for America’s Past Time to return, and  to entertain us all again. This year, each league is so deep, it makes it hard to predict how everything will go. So, let’s go in depth on each team in MLB and give a brief look at their potential.

First, let’s start with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers, for the past couple of seasons, have been favorited by many to finally win their first World Series ring since 1988. The past couple of seasons, they’ve had a roster that talent wise, was plenty to win to it all. For some reason, they have fallen short.

However, could this finally be the year? We all know that Don Mattingly is no longer the skipper and has been replaced by Dave Roberts. We also know how great the Dodgers roster has looked. Is it possible that they were just not the right fit for the World Series all along? Is a new fresh manager what the Dodgers need to finally go and win that 7th ring? It’s very possible.

Many still believe Yasiel Puig to have plenty of potential. We also know how good Adrian Gonzalez can be. The offense is pretty solid, but the rotation does not have the 1-2 Kershaw-Greinke punch anymore.

However, they did add Scott Kazmir and Kenta Maeda to the rotation and they have other options in Brett Anderson, and Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu is expected to come back from injury soon and they also have Brandon McCarthy, who will be knocking on the door some point after the ASG.

The bullpen is pretty solid too, with Kelsey Jansen going 36-38 in save opportunities with a 2.41 ERA. Behind him is talented pitching such as Luis Avilan, JP Howell and Pedro Baez.

So, with a solid lineup, solid bullpen, and above average rotation mixed with a new face as the manger spot, the Dodgers have potential to finally grab that ring.
