We’re back, highlighting more MLB prospects on your favorite teams. This time, we’re looking at Colorado Rockies outfielder David Dahl. Dahl currently plays for the Rockies Double A affiliate Hartford Yard Goats. He’s hitting .287/.367/.556 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI.

Dahl was selected 10th overall in 2012 by Colorado. He won the Rookie-Level Pioneer League MVP in his debut pro season, however, he hasn’t fared nearly as well in full time play. He’s been hampered by injuries, missing most of 2013 with a back injury and most of 2015 with a ruptured spleen. Those injuries have taken time away from his development.

He has the potential to be an offensive force, with his smooth left handed swing and amazing bat speed. He just needs to improve on his plate discipline. He has struck out 55 times in 51 games. If he can cut back on that, he can hit .350 and 30 homers easily.

Dahl is a threat to steal thanks to his great speed and baserunning ability. His speed also contributes to his amazing range in center field, and combined with his instincts and strong arm, he could be one of the top fielders in the league.

Coors Field could be a great fit for Dahl in the future. The ball travels far, which will help him offensively, and there’s a lot of room for him to track fly balls down on defense. He can be a great basestealer, maybe stealing 35-50 a year. Dahl has the potential to be one of the best outfielders in the game of baseball when he’s in his prime. He has to work on some things,  but the talent is definitely there.
