While this season is turning into a losing one for the Minnesota Twins, one bright spot is Right Fielder and Designated Hitter Miguel Sano. The team is going to be without Sano for awhile, as they placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a strained hamstring.

Sano suffered the injury during last nights game, trying to beat out a double play. The team has recalled Max Kepler from triple A Rochester due to the injury.

In 50 games this season, Sano has hit 11 homeruns, 27 RBI, with a batting average of .235 and an OBP of .341. In his second season, Sano has shown that he is a big part of the Twins future, producing solid numbers in his short time in the league.

In only two seasons, Sano has proven that he has the talent and potential to become an impact player in the league. Sano has nice hitting power, but he is more known for being a contact hitter than a power hitter, seen by the numbers of RBI and homeruns he has hit during the past two seasons.

Sano is also solid defensively as well, even if it may take him a few seasons to grow into a everyday starter. Once he grows into his full potential, he will be a really good player in the major league. Put him at the top or middle of the lineup, and he has the skills to produce 25+ homeruns and 60+ RBI.

The team must be relieved that this injury is not that serious, and he is not going to be out long term. It will be a challenge to replace the production in the lineup while he is out with the injury. The team should be able to get someone to step up for the next two to three weeks while Sano is out.

For Sano, this injury should not be able to be a long term problem, it will take him a good two to three weeks to heal up and rehab his hamstring to be one hundred percent. Once he comes back into the lineup, which should be before the all star break baring any setbacks, there should be enough time for him to produce numbers in the second half of the season.
