Throughout the week, New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony surpassed two NBA legends on the NBA scoring list. Those two names? Gary Payton and Larry Bird.

Anthony now sits at #30 on the NBA all-scoring list with 21,818 points in his career.

Gary Payton was always known as a great scorer and passer, but never really stood out until later on in his career. It took Payton 16 years until he won his first NBA championship with the Miami Heat in 2005.

Larry Bird’s story needs no explanation. Bird went down as one of the best three-point shooters, and also won himself three titles.

The next player Melo will look to surpass at #29 is none other than Clyde Dexter. Dexter sits with 22,185 career points, so it’s not long until Anthony passes him.

While Bird and Payton both won titles in their careers, let’s hold our breath on the Knicks winning one sometime soon.
