Mayweather set to Take on Andre Berto on Sept. 12th
The match has been set and boxing’s best pound for pound fighter will be going up against Andre Berto on September 12th. The 38-year old Floyd Mayweather is coming off a victory over Manny Paquiao by unanimous decision in a fight that was the richest in boxing history.
This next bout might not be as lucrative, but still expect many to tune in while Mayweather most likely will make out like a bandit with another huge purse. Pretty boy Floyd also announced this will be his last fight, as the six-fight deal he signed with Showtime/CBS back in 2012 will be over.
The 31-year old Andre Berto is 30-3 with 23 KO’s and is coming off a victory he gained earlier in March where he defeated Josesito Lopez by TKO in the sixth round. Berto probably isn’t the fighter everyone had envisioned to take on Mayweather.
Skill-wise, both fighters are complete opposites. Berto is very athletic but his speed and punching power will come into question, he will go into this fight as a huge underdog. Berto has a lot of confidence in his skills and says he will be the one to hand Mayweather his first lost, but so far the odds are against him.
Showtime PPV has yet to release the splits for the fighters, but the fight has been confirmed to be set on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
