Marshawn Lynch to Retire? 

According to Seahawks general manager John Schneider, on Friday, he stated that he believes that Marshawn Lynch “is leaning towards retirement”. Could this really be happening? It seems to be a lot more realistic than people think.

Lynch’s 2015 season was full of injuries, keeping him off the field for nine games this past season. Lynch ended up playing against the Carolina Panthers in the postseason, but was close to useless in that game.

Lynch had 111 carries for 417 rushing yards in the regular season, and this happens to be the first season in which his health played a major factor in his performance.

Marshawn Lynch will be turning 30 in April, so doesn’t he seem a little too young? Lynch doesn’t seem happy with the way the Seahawks are utilizing him, but he is under contract after all. There are two ways this can play out:

1. Marshawn Retires: If Lynch were to retire from the NFL, it would end up saving the Seahawks $11.5 million from what he is owed for the 2016-17 season. Schneider can only wish that Lynch walks away.

2. The Seahawks cut Marshawn: If the Seahawks go at this situation this way, they would wind up taking the cap hit. This would hurt the team greatly financially, but also gets the drama out of the way.
